The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), on August 7, 2026, notified that e-mail shall be the prescribed electronic means for the service of any document to a person under clause (a) of section 33 of the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025. The notification has been issued in exercise of the powers conferred by the said provision.
The notification clarifies that wherever the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025 permits service of documents through electronic means, such service shall be effected by e-mail, thereby providing a uniform and recognised mode of electronic communication.
This measure is intended to facilitate efficient and legally recognised electronic service of notices and other documents under the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025, supporting faster communication and administrative processes.
